The BLT Youth Theatre was set up in November 2002 with a view to making drama accessible to young people. Creative Education UK now runs all the administering and teaching of the Youth Theatre.
The BLT Youth Theatre offers its members a wide range of drama-based activities, including improvisation games, improvised scenes, mime, movement, mask-work, working with text, puppetry, monologues, acting, and sight reading.
The main idea behind the Youth Theatre is to help to develop young peoples' performance potential and stage technique, and provide an environment that stimulates imaginations, builds confidence, and helps to develop social and team working skills. We are keen to meet young people who are enthusiastic and interested in drama and theatre activities. They do not need to have prior training or experience of stage work.

The BLT Youth Theatre currently holds two sessions (which meet on Saturdays) as follows:
Group 1 - 9.30am - 11.00am
Group 2 - 11.15am - 12.45pm
Group 1 10-14 years of age & Group 2 15-18 years of age
Each term runs for 10 sessions , with breaks for school holidays.
The cost is £80 per term. Summer rehearsals for the production ( see below) are charged at £60. Little Theatre Memberhsip is £10 annually. All fees are paid in advance and are non-refundable.
As well as the weekly classes run at the Theatre and the twice yearly Youth Theatre productions, members of the Youth Theatre also have the opportunity to become 'youth members' of BLT (for a small annual subscription charge). This then entitles them to audition for children's and young people's parts in the Theatre's 'main' productions.
The Youth Theatre classes are run in the safe environment of the Theatre and are organised and led by Marcus Dilly, a professionally trained actor, and experienced drama teacher and workshop facilitator. Marcus is also CRB-checked.
